TRAIL OF DESTRUCTION

ILLUSTRATION

Trail of Destruction is an illustration I have created in honour of the King of the Monsters…

Godzilla!

It was created using only two colours with a multiply layer effect to achieve darker sections where the colours overlap. This was created to replicate the effect of overlapping layers seen in risograph printing or silk screen printing.

I am hoping to screen print these very soon!

I liked the idea of the piece being more focused on the destruction that is often left in the wake of the fights in monster movies, especially the recent Godzilla movies!

This piece was created on ProCreate using an iPad Pro.

It took 15 hours to complete and 12,000 brush strokes (Thanks ProCreate statistics!)

I set myself a few very simple rules whilst creating this piece to keep the style consistent and I feel that it shows in the final illustration.

CLOSE UP DETAILS

I created this illustration with the idea of printing it large scale so I made sure to include small details within the debris and destruction so that no matter which section you focus on there is something going on for you to see.

CONCEPT SKETCHES

I had originally intended for this to be a larger piece that was made up from 3 individual prints. Once I started to sketch it out I felt that it flowed a lot better as a single image but I kept the dimensions for a longer sized piece to show as much of the destruction as possible to let it show more of the journey instead of just a close up action shot.
